Q: I saw an ad for a “whole body vibration training” program at the gym. Does standing on a vibrating platform actually do anything for your body? — Jen, New York A: Ah, this brings back memories of the 1950s and those vibrating hip-slings that were supposed to jiggle pounds off your butt. Today’s version is a vibrating platform that you stand on, and there’s some scientific support for its strength-building claims. We YOU Docs use these machines occasionally, but we’re not giving up our chin-ups just yet. Whole body vibration is a technique pioneered by the Soviets decades ago to help cosmonauts stay in space for long periods without losing so much muscle and bone that they were rag dolls when they got back to Earth. It worked. But does WBV do anything for the earthbound? The science is mixed but promising, particularly for improving strength, power, balance and bone density. WBV also might help keep weight off once you’ve lost it. Also, it seems to target the deep belly fat (visceral fat) that’s linked to diabetes and heart disease. And in one small study, people with low-back pain who vibrated twice a week for 12 weeks got relief. So go ahead, “shake it up, baby,” but check with your doc first. There’s not yet much known about side effects, but we don’t recommend WBV if you’re pregnant, have a pacemaker or have a history of blood clots, seizures or a recent concussion.

I wanted to let you know how incredible the machine is for people suffering “fibromyalgia” or “chronic fatigue” which I do.
This miraculous machine has got me up off the couch & walking again after all this time.
I am no longer so incredibly cold or tired, it has made my life bearable. People need to know about this – there is no “cure” for what I have. Doctors need to know about this, my cramps are nearly gone and the pain is tolerable.

I have just bought a new vibration machine and I absolutely love it! I have just had a baby and one of the main reasons I bought the machine was because I wanted to lose all the baby weight! I have only had the vibration machine for 6 weeks but I am already noticing a difference in my size and my general fitness, I am now finding that I can go a bit longer on the machine than when I first started without getting as tired. I started out just exercising on the lower speeds but am finding now that my body is use to the vibration sensation that i can now graduate to a higher speed every few weeks.

I have just received your poster, many thanks for that. I cannot explain the joy I feel each and every day I do my exercises on the vibration platform.
I had a total knee replacement a year ago, and was not sure if I could use the platform, so I rang my Specialist to enquire whether it was suitable for me.
His reply MOST DEFINITELY!!!!!
I would recommend the vibration platform to anyone, and have. The family love it and I have to make an appointment just to use Vitty as I call it.

I have been using the vibration platform for a month now, and I simply cannot imagine life without it. If I could, I would spend most of my day on it, I love the energy it gives me and how it wakes me up and strengthens me in preparation for the day ahead. I am amazed at the toning I feel in my legs and arms from using it such a short amount of time.
I have suffered from depression for many years and regular exercise is so important to me to control it, if I start to feel down or frustrated, I get straight on the machine and within minutes I have a different outlook. I highly recommend this to anyone, any age, it will change your life. I use other fitness equipment and am active every day, the machine has increased my fitness level to the point where I feel quite a significant difference when doing other exercising. So easy to use, so satisfying. I am very impressed with the vibration platform.
My mornings start with 20 minutes on the machine and fresh fruit and vege juice I have never felt better, my overall well-being has increased dramatically. I am so happy that such an impressive and innovative company like yours exists. Thank you for such great products and customer service.

I have always suffered from bad circulation with cold feet that ache and cold hands. I have had a machine for a couple of months now and feel I have improved circulation with the Vibration platform.
At first I would jump on it a couple of times a day but wasn’t really following a structured routine. For the past month or so I decided to really give it a go and I have been amazed. It feels so wonderful to experience the feeling of the blood surging through my feet and body.
I’ve noticed that my feet are no longer the purple colour they have been for my entire life. Also, because it’s in my house, the convenience is great. I no longer have to try and fit in a trip to the gym. I’ve also started experimenting with yoga postures whilst on the platform. It’s a great product and I’m looking forward to getting to know it even better.
